KARACHI, March 18: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where four ships carrying containers, coal and diesel oil took berths at the QICT, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Saturday.

Three more ships with containers and diesel oil also got anchored at the outer anchorage.

Six ships — Amasis, Brasilia, Fair Spirit, Mighty Michales, Ocean Thi and Tor Marta — are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, diesel oil, wheat, coal and iron ore.

A cargo volume of at 0.107 million tons comprising 0.090 million tons imports and 0.017 million tons exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,370 containers (boxes) was handled during the last 24 hours.

Container ship Amasis and bulk cargo carrier Torm Marta sailed during the last 24 hours.

Following ships are currently at outer anchorage: Selin, Nededland, Mariella and Bulk Canada. Two ships, Brasilia and Fair Spirit, are expected to sail on Saturday. Four ships — MSC Selin, Merker Beach, Azov Wing and Mariella — are expected to take berth on Saturday.

Two ships, Warbah and Anette Kosan, with HSD oil and chemicals are due to arrive at the port on Saturday, while four more ships, Hua Shan Hai, Diler-4, Hurst Point and Yanaseni, with iron ore, fertilizer and containers are due to arrive on Sunday.
