Narcotics seized, 8 arrested

ISLAMABAD, March 17: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized a huge quantity of drugs and arrested eight people in different raids on Friday, a spokesman for ANF said. In the first operation, a raiding party under the supervision of Capt Junaid Ali, assistant director, ANF police station Rawalpindi, intercepted a vehicle (IDF-2777) at Dheri Hassanabad, Rawalpindi.

During the search, 20kg charas was seized and four persons were arrested, namely Raja Zubair, a resident of Kahutta, Khalil Ahmed, a resident of Rawalpindi, Raheel Ahmed, a resident of Abbottabad, and Akhtar Ali, a resident of Mardan district.

Likewise, another raiding party intercepted a passenger Ihsanullah, resident of Peshawar, while he was checking in for Maskat-Abu Dhabi-Abidhan-bound flight (No GF-435) at Islamabad International Airport.

The party seized 12kg heroin concealed in the false cavities of his suitcase and arrested him.

In the third operation, a raiding party under the supervision of Aamir Sibtain Kazmi, assistant director, intercepted a vehicle on GT Road, Faqirabad, Attock.

During search, 185kg charas and 48kg opium were seized. The ANF team also arrested two alleged smugglers, namely Mohammad Ali and Mohammad Kamran, residents of Nowshera.

In the fourth operation, a raiding party intercepted a Vespa (GAA-6909) rider coming from Peshawar on GT Road, Attock, and seized 22kg charas from his possession.

The Vespa rider, Javed, a resident of Mardan, was arrested.

Separate cases have been registered against the accused.
