ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday hailed the sacrifices of civil armed forces personnel in the fight against smuggling, saying that for the first time in the country’s history, considerable reduction was being witnessed in smuggling activities.

The PM while presiding over a meeting along with Chief of Army Staff Gen Syed Asim Munir directed the relevant authorities to provide latest equipment to civil armed forces to support their anti-smuggling efforts. “A number of personnel, in their anti-smuggling efforts, have embraced shahadat and the entire nation saluted them for their sacrifices,” he said.

Besides interior, economic affairs and finance ministers, heads of paramilitary forces in the provinces and PCG representatives among other officials attended the meeting.
