HYDERABAD: Jeay Sindh Rahbar Committee, a conglomerate of various nationalist parties and groups whose many leaders ended a 24-hour hunger strike on Sunday evening, has strongly criticised ‘powerful quarters’ and Pakistan Peoples Party-Parliamentarians for all ills in the country, particularly Sindh.
Speaking to the media on behalf of the committee, Riaz Chandio, alleged that Punjab was occupying all resources of Sindh with support of the powerful quarters.
The hunger strike was observed outside the local press club against persisting lawlessness, incidents of kidnapping for ransom and other issues badly affecting people of Sindh, besides settling of ‘outsiders’ in the province and corporate farming strongly opposed by the province’s indigenous population.
Those who observed the fast included Riaz Chandio, Nawaz Shah Badahi, Fatah Channa, Ayaz Solangi and Anwar Burdi.
Mr Chandio said: “Sindh is a region within this federation where the body of Bahram Sawand was desecrated in the wake of a clash between his community and Sundrani clan, its rival in an old dispute. Even ransom was received for the return of his body to Sawand’s family which shows that there is no state [writ]. No law exists here”.
He lamented that Sindh is a province which is hit by serious ailments like cancer, hepatitis and tuberculosis whereas corruption is at its peak while kidnapping for ransom has become an industry and it is flourishing.
