RAWALPINDI, March 15: President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday pledged to establish the writ of the government in tribal areas and go ahead with the socio-economic development projects.

Addressing a meeting that reviewed security situation in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), he appreciated the performance of law-enforcement agencies and political administration in maintaining law and order.

The president stressed the need for continuation of ‘processes’ till the writ of the government was established, outlaws were brought to justice and foreign elements fomenting trouble were ousted.

Gen Musharraf expressed the hope that the setting up of reconstruction zones in tribal areas would generate economic opportunities.

He said the government was committed to putting in place better health and education facilities in tribal areas, adding it would raise the quality of life and bring progress and prosperity.

Gen Musharraf underlined the importance of timely completion of development projects.
