ARRESTED: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) police arrested a man and impounded his car after Fesco’s costly electric wires worth millions were recovered from his car near the M-3 interchange in Samundri.

The police spokesperson said due to suspicious movement of the driver, his car was stopped and searched. The suspect, identified as Kashif Raza, a resident of Sheikhupura, was handed over to Samundri police along with his car and wires.

In another incident, Jhang’s Kotwali police arrested a constable of the Qadirabad Police Station for stealing the motorcycle of one Fakhar Abbas from the parking of the DHQ Hospital.

PROTEST: Scores of people in Gojra blocked traffic for half an hour on the Jhang Road near the tehsil headquarters hospital by torching tyres on it in protest against Fesco over its failure to repair fallen electricity wires in their village.

The residents of Chak 296/JB told the reporters that they had complained to Fesco some days back that cables were dangling from poles at very low level which could cause an accident but to no avail. When the same cables fell on the ground in the windstorm on Sunday, Fesco staffers reached there to repair the cables after several hours delay. The Fesco staffers and locals scuffled over the issue and the staffers went back without repairing the falling wires.

Later police officers held talks with protesters and assured that Fesco would repair the cables. At this, the protesters ended their protest.
