LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), March 15: A proclaimed offender and so-called commander of the Bara peace committee, Sedak Zakhakhel, was killed by armed supporters of Mufti Munir Shakir on Wednesday.

Sedak Zakhakhel and his accomplice were confronted by Mufti’s supporters in Mandi Kas area on Wednesday evening during a routine patrol by the two groups. The Mufti group alleged that Sedak had challenged and fired on them.

In a brief exchange of fire, Sedak was killed on the spot while his younger brother Asghar taken hostage by the Mufti group.

Apart from his involvement in a number of heinous crimes, Sedak Zakhakhel, along with two of his colleagues, escaped from Bara prison in February last year and was an absconder since then.

The Bara political administration arrested him in Dec 2004, on charges of involvement in the kidnapping of Dr Sawar Shah.

His two colleagues Naseeb Khan and Dawa Khan were also killed in a similar fashion after a shootout with Mufti supporters in Bara on Feb 16. It is learnt that Sedak Zakhakhel had married to an Afghan girl only three days back.
