LAKKI MARWAT, March 15: Officials of the schools and literacy department and senior staff association (SSA) of the district chapter announced on Wednesday that the annual examination for 5th and 8th classes would commence from May 6.

The announcement was made following a joint meeting held at the Government High School No. 2 Lakki with the principal of the Government Centennial Model High School, Lakki, Faiz Muhammad Khan in the chair.

Executive district officer SLD Attaullah Khan Meenakhel, District Officer Muhammad Umar Zangikhel, Deputy District Officer Haji Ismatullah Khan, Assistant District Officer Literacy Haji Muhammad Khan, president SSA Haji Nazir Ahmad and male as well as female principals and headmasters of high and higher secondary schools attended the meeting.

Several key issues pertaining to the quality and standard of primary education, provision of basic needs to the state-run educational institutions, holding of annul examinations, time schedule for summer season and distribution of free textbooks among the students came under detailed discussion in the meeting.

The participants presented useful suggestions in this regard for the purpose to bring changes and implement decisions in letter and spirit.

It was unanimously decided in the meeting that the annual examinations of 5th and

8th classes would start from May 6.

SLD officials in consultation with the examination committee will be responsible for question papers and their dispatching to respective schools in time.

The meeting was told that the focal persons being appointed by the headmasters and principals would receive free textbooks for their respective high and higher secondary schools for further disbursement among the students before the commencement of a new academic session.

A fresh time schedule for the summer season was also discussed in the meeting and it was decided that all the middle, high and higher secondary schools would start the day at 7:30am, while the closing time of schools would be 1:35pm.

EDO SLD Attaullah Khan Meenakhel felicitated the newly promoted headmasters and urged the senior staff members to extend cooperation to the local authorities with the aim of bringing about an improvement in primary education.

He instructed the heads of educational institutions to utilise petty repair funds transparently and try their best to equip schools with basic requirements.
