RAHIM YAR KHAN: The National Highway and Motorway Police’s local section has launched crackdown against motorists using worn-out tyres and those indulging in speeding.

Under the directive of NH&MP Inspector General Salman Ali Chaudhry and Deputy Inspector General Central Zone Shahid Javed, a campaign against worn-out tyres and speed violations has been ongoing since May 4.

Road-users are instructed to comply with these regulations and in case of non-compliance fines are being imposed.

RYK sector commander Rana Sarfaraz Ahmed highlighted hazards of retaining worn- out tyres, particularly during summer when tyre pressure increases due to hot conditions, increasing the risk of tyre bursts and subsequent accidents. He advised the public to use robust tyres to mitigate such risks.

Furthermore, motorists are reminded not to exceed the speed limit with heavy fines.
