GUJRANWALA: Six senior officers of Gepco have been suspended for not controlling high line losses and sending inflated bills to consumers.

After inquiry, Gepco CEO Muhammad Ayub suspended superintending engineers of Cantt and Narowal circles and executive engineers of Cantt, Shakargarh, Sialkot and Jalalpur.

Meanwhile, FIA continues crackdown against elements involved in electricity theft. The agency conducted 16 raids and arrested four power thieves. Raids were conducted in Deedar Singh, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Kharian, Nowshera Wirkan, Khaliqpur, Wazirabad, Sialkot and Gujranwala City.

Company authorities disconnected power supply and seized cables and other equipment. Officials said involvement of Gepco staff would be investigated during the ongoing drive. “Further legal action will be taken after receiving a detailed technical report from the Gepco authorities.”
