PSDP funds

Published May 4, 2024

THE delay in the release and subsequent utilisation of Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) funds already approved by the Ministry of Planning and Development is frustrating. During the interim government, the release of development funds had been frozen due to pending elections. But even with a new government in place, the development funds have remained frozen for unknown and incomprehensible reasons. This is despite the fact that many of projects are to be completed during the fiscal year.

This can only be done once sufficient funds are available for the projects as the cost is increasing by the day due to inflation along with rented machinery held on site without any progress in work.

Less than three months are left to complete the remaining work on all such projects, but the government and the relevant ministries are completely silent over the issue. The funds must be released immediately so that work on all such projects may be accelerated.
