The Israeli army says it struck overnight Hezbollah targets, including infrastructure and military buildings, in the area or Jabal Blat and Marwahin in southern Lebanon, Al Jazeera reports.
Israeli forces and Hezbollah have been trading fire on a nearly daily basis since the start of the offensive in Gaza. While they have largely remained confined to the border areas they have increased in scope and intensity. So far more than 350 people have been killed in Lebanon and 22 in Israel due to cross-border attacks.
French Foreign Minister Stephane Sejourne was in Lebanon over the week-end to assess the situation and discuss a roadmap to ease tensions. An Al Jazeera correspondent said the plan could include the implementation of a 2006 UN resolution for a buffer area along the border free from weapons and fighters outside of state control.
