LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan on Friday assured the lawyers from Multan of addressing their issues, including shortage of judges in the division.

The chief justice was talking to a delegation of the High Court Bar Association, Multan, led by President Malik Sajjad Haider Maitla.

The delegation extended an invitation to the chief justice to visit Multan.

The delegation members apprised the CJ of the issues faced by the bar associations of Multan division, and discussed matters of mutual interest.

They demanded an increase in the number of judges at the LHC Multan bench, saying the shortage was causing a backlog of cases. They also suggested that lawyers from Multan bar be considered for elevation as judges in the LHC.

CJ Khan said the provision of speedy and quality justice was the LHC’s top priority, and lawyers may support in making the justice system more effective.

He promised to address the issues of the Multan division lawyers on a priority basis.
