LAHORE: Salman Gulzar won the President DHA Cup Golf Championship which concluded here at the Defence Raya Golf and Country Club on Sunday.

Salman, a seven handicapper, edged out 16-year-old Shameer Majid to secure the title. After a close fight, Salman ended the final round at gross 74 which was added to his first-round score of 77, earning him an aggregate of 151.

Shameer ended with identical score of 151 but on the last day’s best card, Salman was declared winner.

Among the amateur contenders, Abdullah Aqib registered a fine 152 to win the third gross position.

The net event was claimed by Ata-ur-Rehman Badr with 133. His nearest rival Shahid also ended up at 133 but had to concede the first position to Ata because of a better score over the last 18 holes. Third position in the net went to Ayan Asif (137).

The senior amateurs event was seized by Umair Butt (152) while Sardar Murad (154) and Rana Nasir (155) came second and third, respectively.

Dr Haider Rasul Malhi clinched the senior amateur net title with Col Ikram ul Haq and Maj Haroon Shafiq claiming second and third spots, respectively.

Mustafa Wajid (322 yards) won the longest drive while Faisal Malik got the nearest to the pin honours.

Among seniors, the longest drive was made by Col Hassan (302 yards) while Shafiq Bhatti came nearest to the pin.

Syed Amer Raza and Chaudry Imtiaz were declared invitational winners.
