PESHAWAR, Feb 3: Former Afghan president Pir Sibghatullah Mujaddedi went back to Kabul along with his family after remaining in exile for more than two decades.

According to family sources, the former president left Islamabad for Kabul on Saturday. Mr Mujadidi had been living in Pakistan and Europe since mid-70s when late president Mohammad Daud assumed power in 1973.

After the invasion of Russian forces Mr Mujaddedi constituted National Liberation Front of Afghanistan. He was appointed interim president of the country following the fall of communist regime of Dr Najibullah in 1992.
