FTA with Malaysia

Published March 12, 2006

ISLAMABAD, March 11: Pakistan and Malaysia have finalized rules of origin and dispute settlement mechanism under the proposed FTA between the two countries. An official told Dawn on Saturday that the remaining part of the agreement, mostly related to tariff reduction on the proposed items, would be discussed in the next round to be held in Malaysia next month. The Malaysian side agreed to de-link condition of the tariff rationalization on palm oil under the proposed FTA, the official said, adding that tariff rationalization would, however, be considered on mutual understanding but it would not be a binding issue.
