Call for holding nazim election

QUETTA, March 9: Kharan tribal elder Mir Shaukat Baloch has demanded that election for district nazim in Kharan should be held and said that people are facing problems due to absence of local government.

Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, he said that the local governments in 27 districts of the province have been formed but Kharan people had been deprived of this right.

CCPO: Chief Justice of Supreme Court Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has directed the Quetta capital city police officer to secure release of a man kidnapped on Aug 27, 2005, from the suburb of the city, till March 13.

The chief justice in his chamber here on Thursday told the police officer to recover Noor Muhammad Tajik before March 13, and produce him before the Balochistan High Court.

If the law enforcement agency failed to recover Mr Tajik, the CCPO should appear before the court in Islamabad on March 13, along with his personal service file, Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry said.

The chief justice has taken suo motu notice on an appeal of the Mr Tajik’s mother Sultan Bibi. She had submitted that the kidnappers were demanding ransom of Rs20 million for the release of her son, but police was not showing interest in the case.
