HYDERABAD: Protest demonstrations were held in many towns of Sindh on Sunday in response to a call given by the Jeay Sindh Mahaz-Riaz over growing incidents of gangs’ activities and failure of the police and provincial government to find a clue to a girl, ‘PK’. who had allegedly been abducted some four years ago from a locality in Sukkur.

The main protest in Hyderabad was led by JSM-R chairman Riaz Chandio along with Dr Badar Channa, Roshan Burirro, Punhal Sario, Naimat Khuhro and others. Speaking to the participants, they said that Sindh had been faced with ‘dacoit culture’ for years and the gangsters were kidnapping people at their whim irrespective of their gender, religion, status or age. Heavy amounts of ransom were collected for their release but government appeared helpless, they added.

Expressing their deep concern over the surge in kidnappings, dacoities, murders and other heinous crimes in Sindh, they said this showed that dacoits were being patronised.
