CHARSADDA: The members of Charsadda tehsil council have called for boycott of Israeli products to express solidarity with the people of Palestine and condemn brutalities of Israeli forces.

The meeting of the council also expressed concerns over non-cooperation of various government departments and institutions with representatives of local bodies.

The members of the council demanded of the government to resolve issue of payment of pension and salaries of TMA employees on a priority basis. They also demanded participation of officials of various departments in the meetings of the council.

The meeting was presided over by convener Abdullah Haqqani. Tehsil council chairman Mufti Abdul Rauf Shakir and members attended the meeting.

They said that most of the shops in Municipal Committee Market were not paying rent owing to a stay order by a court so TMA was facing financial problems.

They criticised district administration for not inviting members of the council to a festival at Abdul Wali Han Sports Complex. They said that attitude of provincial government towards local body representatives was not favourable.

Addressing the meeting, Mufti Abdul Rauf Shakir said that efforts were being made to provide a grant to TMA. He said that a vigorous movement would be launched for solution of people’s problems after Eidul Fitr.

HOSPITAL: Provincial Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah made a surprise visit to district headquarters hospital in Charsadda issued on the spot directives for suspension of services of the medical superintendent Dr Shoaib on charges of poor management and public complaints.

Talking to journalists, the minister said that the hospital would be put on a track within a week. He added health and education were top priorities of government.

The minister visited emergency ward and other departments of the hospital. He also met the patients present in the hospital.

He said that provision of better treatment facilities to patients in hospitals was his first priority. The patients stopped the health minister during his visit and piled up their complaints. He himself opened the lock of the dialysis unit, and took the patients to emergency and OPD.
