KARACHI: A restaurant, popularly known as Café Bogie, was gutted after a fire broke out in it near the Cantonment Railway Station on Tuesday, officials said.

Rescue-1122 official Hassaan Khan said that the blaze erupted in a railway coach, which had been turned into a restaurant, parked outside the station at around 10:30am.

The fire-fighting teams of the railway, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Rescue-1122 were mobilised within minutes and the fire was put out after hectic efforts lasting for more than an hour, he added.

Quoting owners of the restaurant, the official said that they had closed the cafe after Sehri and the fire erupted later, ostensibly due to some short circuit.

The officials said that no one was injured in the incident, but the restaurant, its furniture and kitchen were completely destroyed.
