Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry has met with the commissioner-general of the UN refugee agency Philippe Lazzarini in Cairo, assuring him of his country’s full support to UNRWA, Al Jazeera reports.

In a post by Ahmed Abu Zeid, the spokesmen for Egypt’s ministry of foreign affairs, Shoukry discussed the “necessity of removing impediments by Israel to aid entry, and ending tactics of starvation and collective punishment in the [Gaza] Strip”.

However, there was no mention of opening the Rafah border crossing, which is the only entry and exit point for Palestinians in Gaza.
