KARACHI, March 8: An activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead allegedly by his friends on Rashid Minhas Road on late Tuesday night. Police said three friends, Shahzad alias Bobby, Shakeel and Faisal, were sitting in the Raza Square compound on Rashid Minhas Road.

Police said they had arguments over some matter, and Shahzad took out his pistol, and pumped six bullets into Faisal and fled.

The wounded Faisal was rushed to a private hospital on University Road which referred the wounded man to the JPMC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In the past several killings have taken place in and around Raza Square.

KILLED: A man was killed allegedly by his relatives in Lyari on Tuesday night.

Police said Israil, 40, son of Sada Gul, was shot dead by unknown persons on Salman Azad Road in the Kalri police jurisdiction. Police said the victim’s wife nominated four persons, stated to be close relatives of the dead, in the FIR. Police said the victim had allegedly killed a close relative of the four suspects nominated in the FIR.

MPA BOOKED: Police registered an FIR against a minority MPA in connection with Tuesday’s incident in the Sindh assembly.

The FIR (181/06) was lodged by the DSP of Special Branch at the Preedy police station under section 353, 392 and 506/B.

The sections pertain to giving life threats, damage to public property etc. Police also conducted a raid at the residence of the PPP MPA, Mukesh Chawla, to arrest him, but failed.
