LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended the pre-arrest bail of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf founder Imran Khan’s sisters and former finance minister Asad Umar in multiple cases of the May 9 riots.

Khan’s sisters Aleema Khan, Uzma Khan and Umar appeared before the court on expiry of their pre-arrest bail.

Judge Arshad Javed heard their petitions as duty judge and simply extended the bail till March 20.

Umar sought bail in Shadman police station attack while the women filed bail petitions in cases of attack on Askari Tower, Gulberg, torching PML-N offices in Model Town and a container near Kalma Chowk.

Both sisters are also on bail in the Jinnah House attack case till April 20.

AQ KHAN TRUST: A judicial magistrate of Model Town has denied post-arrest bail to a man allegedly involved in committing a fraud in the name of Dr AQ Khan Trust Hospital.

Naseerabad police registered the FIR against Muhammad Sohail and two other suspects on charges of fabricating property documents of the trust hospital.

A counsel for the petitioner/suspect argued that the case was false, baseless and had been registered with mala fide intention. He said the petitioner had no concern with the case and the offence did not fall within the ambit of prohibitory clause of section 497 CrPC.

Conversely, a counsel for the complainant opposed the bail saying the suspect was nominated in the FIR and sufficient material was available on record against him.

After hearing the arguments, Magistrate Farah Noor dismissed the bail petition of suspect Sohail.

Other two suspects Shaukat Babar Virk and Saeed Ahmad are on pre-arrest bail till March 19.
