KARACHI: Indus-Hub water link

Published March 9, 2006

KARACHI, March 8: The managing-director of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Brig Iftikhar Hyder, has directed engineers to connect the Indus river system to Hub pumping station for supplying water to areas in Balochistan.

“There had been a continuous decline in water level in Hub dam, which requires linking of Indus river system with Hub pumping station so that the areas of Balochistan fed by it could be supplied water,” Brig Iftikhar said according to a KWSB release on Wednesday.

During his visit to North-East Karachi and Hub pumping station, Brig Iftikhar said that half of the additional 100mgd water under the K-III project would be supplied to Balochistan areas. —PPI
