Inaugurating the first tree-planting drives since his re-election, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has urged the nation to take part in such campaigns.
Speaking in Islamabad, he noted that climate change-related disasters had led to the loss of almost 10,000 lives in recent years and caused billions of dollars worth of loss to the country’s economy.
Emphasising the importance of tree-planting drives, he urged the public to participate in such movements so that Pakistan “remained safe from every kind of atmospheric risk”.
