Pentagon press secretary Patrick Ryder said the construction process of the port in Gaza to receive maritime aid, which requires 1,000 US troops, will take one to two months, Al Jazeera reports.
Once built, it will also require aid to be both offloaded onto the pier, which Israel will oversee security of, and then moved by smaller military vessels onto Gaza’s coast.
This plan, aid groups say, is time-consuming and inefficient compared with supplying aid through land crossings.
