Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Rana Aftab has lamented the incarceration of several PTI leaders and called for their release.

“If the Supreme Court can give justice to an individual after 44 years, then it is currently in our Constitution to have a free and fair trial,” he said while speaking to the media in Lahore, referring to the recent Supreme Court observation that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was not given “fair trial and due process”.

“PTI founder Imran Khan, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid and several other PTI lawmakers are in jail right now; under which law is this allowed?” he questioned.

He remarked that the decision to incarcerate them is not some sort of “household decision” but a political one, calling for the decisions to be rethought and the leaders freed.
