The Italian foreign minister has again called for a “sustainable ceasefire” in Gaza, pointing to the recent “slaughter” of aid seekers in Gaza as cause for urgent action.

“Italy calls for an extended and enduring cessation of hostilities, leading to a sustainable ceasefire as prescribed also by UN Security Council Resolutions 2712 and 2720”, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said in front of the Italian parliament according to Al Jazeera.

“The slaughter of innocents seeking food commands to intensify efforts to reach a ceasefire as soon as possible,” Tajani said.

“We have asked Israel to rigorously ascertain the facts and the responsibilities,” the foreign minister added.
