The PTI has submitted a resolution in the National Assembly calling for the immediate release of party founder Imran Khan.

The resolution, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, bears the signatures of all PTI-backed lawmakers.

It demands that all the “illegal” first information reports registered against Imran be quashed and that he be immediately released. It alleges that all the cases against the PTI founder were lodged on the basis of “political revenge” and with the aim of keeping the ex-premier away from the public eye.

“The unfair use of law should immediately be stopped,” the resolution says.

It also demands the release of incarcerated PTI leaders including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, Ijaz Chaudhry and others.

The resolution further demands that journalists Imran Riaz Khan and Asad Toor should be immediately set free.
