Palestinian pop singer Bashar Murad has set his sights on representing Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest in May and bringing “a Palestinian voice to the main stage”, Al Jazeera reports.

Iceland is set to pick its contestant this weekend for the annual song competition, which is being held in the Swedish city of Malmo this year.

Murad is competing in the Iceland final with a song co-written by Einar Stefansson of the Icelandic band Hatari, who are known for having displayed Palestinian flags during the 2019 Eurovision contest.
