PPP’s Owais Qadir Shah has been elected as the 19th Sindh Assembly speaker.

Announcing the results, outgoing speaker Agha Siraj Durrani said a total of 147 votes were cast, of which Shah received 111. Meanwhile, his opponent and MQM-P leader Sofia Shah got 36 votes.

As Shah walked up to the dias, slogans of ‘Long Live Bhutto’ erupted in the house. He subsequently took oath in Sindhi and proceeded to take the chair of the speaker.
