KARACHI: Bodies of two men were recovered from an open drain in a desolate area near Musharraf Colony in district Keamari on Friday, police said.

A police spokesperson said in a statement that Yunus Iqbal and Amir Arif were found dead near the football ground in Mauripur.

The bodies were shifted to the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi for a medico-legal examination.

During an initial probe, it transpired that they fell in the drain on Thursday night, suffered injuries and died.

The police believed that they fell in the drain as they were under the influence of alcohol.

Woman commits suicide

A 22-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide in her home in Lines Area.

Brigade SHO Aijaz Pathan said that Nisha Nasir committed self-immolation by sprinkling kerosene oil on her body after a quarrel with her husband.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, three members of an extortion gang operating from Iran were arrested in Baloch Para of Old Subzi Mandi on Friday, officials said.

East SSP Irfan Bahadur said two grenades and one automatic rifle were also seized from suspects Bilal, Aqib and Mehboob.
