Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Sibtain Khan has said he will “make sure” that all newly elected lawmakers who have arrived at the provincial assembly are allowed to attend its session.

On the matter of a few MPA-elects allegedly being prevented from entering the assembly, Sibtain said, “I will go and check that if any of our MPAs are standing outside [the PA], I will make sure that they enter here.”

Speaking to reporters outside the assembly, he said, “In today’s session, an oath will be administered to the elected assembly members today.

He said he had “no program” for today’s session and that the elections for the PA’s speaker and deputy speaker will be held tomorrow.

Regarding a few reserved seats not being notified yet, Sibtain said he would check all the relevant notifications issued by the election commission, adding that the ECP might have listed them as pending.
