As Israel intensifies its attacks on Rafah, people are now escaping to the central part of the Gaza Strip about 20km (8 miles) away, Al Jazeera reports.
“Some people are trying to flee from Rafah to Deir el-Balah. People are horrified. I have reached Deir el-Balah now, but it’s really too overcrowded,” Mahmood Shafeeq, who made the journey north, told Al Jazeera.
Twenty-five people were killed on Friday in Tal Al-Sultan, he added, referring to an area in Rafah hosting a displacement camp.
“The bombing was intense. People are taking their belongings and leaving. I have fled for the eighth time. Where can I go now? I have bought two tents and now looking for another for my 30-member family,” Shafeeq said.
Deir El-Balah itself has not been spared from Israeli bombardment with deadly attacks on Friday there as well.
