GUJRANWALA, March 2: Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool gave an approval for the affiliation of Government Girls College Gurunanikpura with the Punjab University. This was stated by PML MPA Engineer M Ashraf Butt after having a meeting with the Punjab governor in Lahore here on Thursday.
The MPA said the governor had also approved starting of MSc chemistry classes and directed the education department to complete the process immediately.
He further revealed that an approval for the construction of the Punjab University new campus near Nandipur had also been given.
He claimed that the governor was taking keen interest in promoting education and provision of better facilities to students and teachers.
CLOSURE: The local chamber of commerce and industry announced the closure of the exhibition of made in Gujranwala products on Friday (today) till 6pm at Gulshan Iqbal Park on GT Road.
While all activities and programmes have been cancelled to support strike by religious parties against the publication of cartoons by European countries.

MOOT: A two-day first all Pakistan surgical conference organised by society of surgeons will commence from March 11 at a local hotel.
This was stated by Dr Abdul Rehman Alvi in a press release issued here on Thursday.
He said that pre-conference surgical workshops would be held on March 9 and 10 while experts and surgeons would conduct complicated operation of some patients.

The rally, led by divisional nazim Mehr Qaiser Shahzad and District Nazim Mehr Muhammad Sarwar, started from Gondlanwala Chowk and terminated at Sialkoti Gate.
Protesters were carrying banners and placards and chanted slogans against European countries.
LIFE-TERM: A local court on Thursday handed down life-term with a fine of Rs100,000 each to a woman and her lover in a murder case.
According to the prosecution, convict ‘S’ had relations with one Dilber Jani of Aimanabad. When deceased Joseph Masih admonished her, she killed him with the help of her lover on Oct 14 last and threw his body in a nearby field.
