PESHAWAR: Two militants, including a senior commander, were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan district on Tuesday.

The ISPR said in a statement the IBO was carried out in North Waziristan on the presence of militants in the area on night of Feb 5.

During the operation, an exchange of fire took place between troops and militants in which two militants were killed.

One of the slain militants was identified as ring leader Ayubullah alias Mansoor.

The ISPR said that weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the slain militants, who had been actively involved in terrorist acts, including target killing, extortion of money and abduction of innocent people in the area.
