KARACHI, March 1: Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil has suggested that special children should be allowed to appear in the exams of Class 9 and 10 as per old system.

Talking to a delegation which met her at his office on Wednesday, she said that it would not be compulsory for special children to appear in composite exams of 9th and 10th classes.

“The special children should be allowed to appear in these examinations as per old system (separate examination) and we would take up this matter with Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim so that no injustice is done with the special children,” she said.

The delegation comprised Jehangir Siddiqui Academy for Deaf, K-Project, and Chairman of Noor Ellahi Trust Mrs Lala Doosa.

Nasreen Jalil said that the holding of composite exam was not only a cause of worry for the normal children, but its implementation on special children too was an injustice.

She said that before taking any final decision, the government should get suggestions in this regards from all stake-holders, including teachers and those imparting training to special children.

The naib nazim said that electronic media should also hold programmes for special children.

She assured the delegation that she would recommend City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal for provision of concession fares to special children in Urban Transport Buses, as most of them discontinued their education for unaffordable travelling expenses.

She said that two per cent jobs quota for special people should be implemented judiciously.

The naib nazim said that she would also talk with Sports Minister Qamar Mansoor for providing maximum playing facilities to the special children besides holding various other programmes for them.—APP
