TOBA TEK SINGH: Police raided on Wednesday night the residence of former federal minister and PTI candidate for NA-109 Sheikh Waqas Akram in Jhang to arrest him in connection with a case related to his alleged involvement in the May 9 riots. However, he was not found at home.

The police also raided the house of former Jhang city PPP President Mehr Qaiser Abbas but he was also not present.

Condemning the police action, Abbas, who recently joined the PTI, questioned the reason behind the raid, stating that his only “sin” is supporting PTI candidates.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Ali Raza Tippu in Jhang was arrested, though the details of the case remain unclear.

Tippu had been actively participating in the election campaign for PTI candidates.

In Kamalia, the police arrested two supporters of independent candidate for PP-123, Shahid Iqbal Gujjar, for violating the ECP code of conduct.

The police reported that both Muhammad Asif and Khalid Mahmood were carrying weapons and engaging in aerial firing during a corner meeting of the said candidate.

INJURED: Six labourers were critically wounded when an animal shed collapsed on them in Faisalabad on Thursday near Adda Johal on Sheikhupura Road.

The labourers were raising the height of the shed using jacks in a dairy farm.

Rescuers and locals removed heavy debris, and the injured workers – Zeshan, Shahid, Adeel, Shahnawaz, Rafaqat, and Saghar - were shifted to the DHQ hospital for medical treatment.

In another incident in Faisalabad on Wednesday night, robbers shot dead a man in the Yousaf Town locality when they forced their entry into his house.

Umair, the victim, resisted the intrusion, leading to the robbers opening fire and critically wounding him. He was rushed to the DHQ hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
