Punjab win badminton, TT titles

LAHORE, Feb 28: Punjab won the Inter-provincial Under-17 girls badminton and table tennis championship at Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Badminton: Punjab beat Azad Kashmir in the finals 2-0. Aqsa put Punjab 1-0 ahead , beating Andaleeb 11-2, 11-0 in the first singles.

In the doubles, Aqsa pairing with Anam outclassed Andaleeb and Momina Rasheed 15-0, 15-0.

Anam and Aqsa also qualified for the final of the individual event to be played on Wednesday.

Anam defeated Mehwish of Sindh 11-9, 3-11, 11-5 while Aqsa overpowered Pusra of NWFP 11-3, 11-0 to make it all-Punjab final.

Table tennis: Punjab defeated Sindh 3-0 to win the final. Arfa faced tough competition from Maleeha before winning 8- 11,11-6, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8.

Sidra Abdul Sattar doubled the lead thrashing Ayesha 11-9, 11-9, 11-7 while Mobeen completed the rout defeating Mariam 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-8.
