VEHARI, Feb 28: Police claimed on Tuesday to have busted an inter-district dacoits’ gang and recovered weapons, vehicles and cash from them. Addressing a press conference, Vehari DPO Muhammad Mukhtar Tikka said the Asgher Dhudi gang consisted of eight members and was allegedly involved in over 70 cases of dacoity, murder and kidnap in south Punjab districts.

He said the dacoits used police uniform in highway robberies and were active for the last one and a half years.

The DPO said a special police party under the supervision of DSP Sardar Zafar Iqbal Dogar arrested them and recovered kalashnikovs, pistols, rifles, guns, carbins, scores of bullets, two tractors, two motorcycles and cash worth Rs1 million.

He said the gangsters were wanted by Machiwal, Mitro, Burewala Saddar and Mailsi Saddar police.

The dacoits have been identified as ring leader Asghar Dhudi of Machiwal, Bashir of Machiwal, Shan alias Shana of Okara military farms, Amjad alias Allah Rakha, Manzoor alias Jhora, Rafiq alias Feeka, Amanat alias Ranji and Latif of 101/WB.
