KARACHI, Feb 28: A youth was shot dead allegedly by his brother-in-law over a family dispute in New Karachi on Tuesday. Police said Mir Bux divorced Halima sometime back but their case was pending in a court. Halima’s brother Mohammad Akram, 24, had been supporting his sister in the case. This angered Mir Bux and he along with Khan Mohammad knocked at the door of Akram in Sector 5-G, New Karachi. As soon as Akram opened the door, Mir Bux allegedly shot at him.

Family members of Akram took him to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The body was handed over to the victim’s family after autopsy.

Police said the family dispute could be a reason behind the murder. Police registered a case against Mir Bux and Khan Mohammad on a complaint of Punnu Khan, the father of the dead. However, the police failed to arrest the killers.

BODY FOUND: The body of an unidentified man, in his mid-30s, was found in Machhar Colony on late Monday night.

Police shifted the body to the Civil Hospital, where doctors were of the view that the man was strangled and afterwards his face was burnt. The body remained unidentified and it was later kept in Edhi’s morgue.

ACCIDENTS: Two people died in accidents on Tuesday.

Rahimullah, 55, resident of Qadhafi Town, died when a recklessly driven truck knocked him down near his residence while he was crossing the road. The body was taken to the JPMC for autopsy.

Irshad Khan, 30, resident of Hijrat Colony, who was injured in a hit-and-run accident when he was crossing the road in the Saddar police limits on late Monday night, died on Tuesday at the JPMC.
