ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran arrived in Tehran on Friday, while his Iranian counterpart landed in Islamabad, signalling the full restoration of diplomatic relations between the two neighbouring countries following a brief disruption in ties after Iran conducted strikes on alleged terrorist targets inside Pakistani territory.

As Ambassador Muddasar Tipu returned to his post in Tehran, he emphasised the importance of a fresh start in the bilateral relations. “It’s time to turn a new leaf in our ties,” he remarked, signalling a renewed commitment to strengthening the partnership.

Simultaneously, upon arrival in Islamabad, Iranian envoy Reza Amiri Moghadam expressed his approval of the swift and effective diplomatic measures taken by both nations in addressing the recent tensions.

Speaking to Iranian news agency Irna, Mr Moghadam said, “The robust and prompt diplomacy between our countries has been commendable in managing the recent incidents.” He stressed the mutual stance of Iran and Pakistan that there was no place for terrorists in their ties.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian is, also reaching Islamabad on Sunday on the invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Jalil Abbas Jilani.

Foreign Office’s Additional Secretary (West Asia) Rahim Hayat Qureshi, while welcoming Mr Moghadam back to Islamabad, said, “We here in Pakistan are delighted by your arrival back at your second home. Our fraternal relations will Insha Allah go from strength to strength.”
