SUKKUR, Feb 27: The Karachi-bound Khushaal Khan Khattak Express narrowly escaped a disaster when a bomb exploded on the railway track at Sattar Abad, near Kandhkot, on Monday afternoon.

According to railway authorities, the bomb blasted a few minutes after the train passed the site while the Lahore-bound Chiltan Express was approaching.

The blast damaged a two feet portion of the track.

Kashmore TPO Iqbal Qureshi rushed to the site along with a heavy contingent of police. He said it was a remote control bomb.

The repair work was under way when the report was filed.

PROTEST RALLY: A large number of people of different villages of the district took out a protest procession and staged sit-ins outside the press club and the office of the Hesco sub-engineer here on Monday against power shutdown in their villages for five days.

They belonged to Gosarji, Tamachani, Nachanpur, Qasimani, Haider Shah, Bhooralpur, Jhando Tanwari, Ismail, Panjal, and other villages.

They chanted slogans against Hesco while marching through main roads of the city.
