PESHAWAR, Feb 27: The Peshawar High Court on Monday granted bail to a person charged with a rocket attack on the office of an intelligence agency in Swat district. A bench of Chief Justice Tariq Pervez Khan directed the accused-petitioner, Liaqat Khan, to furnish two surety bonds of Rs300,000 each.

The petitioner was arrested after a few days of the attack on the local office of the Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) on Oct 30, 2005, in Swat. Advocate Yousaf Khan Yousafzai appeared for the petitioner and argued that his client had been implicated in the case.

He stated that the prosecution had charged 12 persons for the offence whereas there was no evidence against the petitioner. Mr Yousafzai claimed that nothing had been seized from the petitioner and only on the basis of suspicion a person could not be kept in detention.
