Within the past hour, there have been heavy clashes in southern Khan Younis city between Palestinian fighters on the ground and invading Israeli forces, Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports from Rafah, southern Gaza.

The battles centre around the Nasser hospital. It’s street-to-street, house-to-house fighting. There is also heavy Israeli bombardment of the area.

Snipers have taken positions in high-rise buildings, shooting people on the street below. People in the hospital have no place to go. There is no safe place, whether inside the building or outside in the courtyard where many people seek shelter.

There’s been no let-up to the destruction and displacement throughout the Gaza Strip. In the north, a car was also targeted near Al-Shifa Hospital with three killed and several wounded.
