Iran announced that it is sending new military vessels to “international and oceanic waters” amid the Gaza crisis, Al Jazeera reports.

Admiral Shahram Irani, the commander of the naval forces of the Iranian army celebrated with crew the departure of the vessels in the southern city of Bandar Abbas, according to a report by the semi-official Tasnim news website.

According to Al Jazeera, the army said the “combat-training naval group” will include the Hengam-class landing ship Tonb, and the support vessel Bushehr.

“The important characteristic of this mission is to transfer naval experiences and training to students of the army navy, in order to be able to carry out the solemn missions of the navy in the near future.”
