QUETTA: Mir Asghar Rind, a PPP candidate for the Balochistan Assembly, survived a grenade attack in Turbat on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred when an unknown motorcyclist threw a grenade at his residence in Overseas Colony. The explosion in the house’s courtyard injured Mr Rind’s brother.

Mr Rind, a former provincial minister and PPP leader, was present in the house but remained unharmed. He is contesting the election on a PPP ticket for PB-4 Kech district.

“The condition of Rind’s brother is out of danger,” police said, adding that windowpanes of Mr Rind’s house and other nearby houses were broken in the blast. Turbat town witnessed its second attack on election candidates within the past week.

Following the hand grenade attack on Mr Rind’s residence, law enforcement agencies initiated a search operation in the area. No group has claimed responsibility for the assault on Mr Rind’s home.
