QUETTA: The premises of Government Model High School in Kharan was targeted by unknown men during a training session for polling staff on Monday.

According to officials, the assailants launched the attack on the school building while officers from various government departments were undergoing training inside. A hand-grenade was thrown into the school premises, detonating in an open area within the building.

The powerful blast shattered windowpanes of some classrooms, causing disturbance in the vicinity. Fortunately, government officials and election commission staff conducting the training remained unharmed, as the explosion occurred away from the training area, stated a senior official from the local administration.

Following the incident, law enforcement personnel, including the police, swiftly arrived at the scene, cordoning off the area and initiating an investigation.

Reports indicate that the attackers, riding a motorcycle, managed to escape after the grenade attack. Security forces have initiated a search operation in the area, but as of now, no arrests have been reported.
