The UK has left the door open for more attacks on Yemeni soil, which its defence minister has suggested will depend on what happens next, Al Jazeera reports.

The UK will “wait and see” before deciding to launch fresh military strikes against the Houthi movement in Yemen with a stated aim of protecting international shipping, Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said.

“Let’s wait and see what happens because it’s not that we want to be involved in action in the Red Sea. But ultimately freedom of navigation is an international right,” Shapps told Sky News when asked if the UK would carry out more strikes.

London was the only country to join the US in a series of airstrikes that targeted several Yemeni cities last week.
