The White House National Security Council spokesman said the US has been speaking “intensely” with Israel about a transition to “lower intensity” operations in Gaza.
“We believe it’s the right time for that transition. And we’re talking about doing that now,” said John Kirby.
He added Israel had taken “some precursory steps” towards reducing air strikes and operating in a more limited capacity. However, Israeli attacks in recent days have killed hundreds of Palestinians.
